Abstract


DETERMINING CITY DEVELOPMENT FOR USING GIS IN CASE OF CANKIRI

Today, unplanned urbanization is gaining an increasing momentum as a result of rapid population growth and increasing urbanization. In order to prevent this situation, It is of great importance to determine and evaluate the current - past situation of the field uses temporally and spatially. One of the most appropriate and realistic ways of doing this is to use land change monitoring techniques using satellite images. In the study carried out within the boundaries of the development plan of 2974.17 ha, Satellite images of different years were examined using Geographical Information Systems, the spatial and temporal change of the field uses has been determined in the whole area and 402.66 hectares where the city center is located. Manual classification was made of the city center of Çankırı with using GIS with Google Earth satellite images of 2009 and 2019. By comparing the data obtained, The vegetation change and structural areas were determined for a period of 10 years. The vegetation areas, which were 549.32 ha in 2009, were calculated as 371.30 ha in 2019. Structural usage areas, which were 258.84 ha in 2009, increased to 349.22 ha in 2019. While the vegetation areas in the city center were 111.70 ha in 2009, these areas were calculated as 56.72 ha in 2019. Structural areas, which were 142.26 ha in 2009, increased to 184.85 ha in 2019. In the study, were examined the reasons for the change in land use and suggestions have been made.
