Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between 2D:4D rate and personality, anger and aggression in people doing sports. A total of 322 people reached with easy sampling method participated in the study. 213 (66.1%) participants played team sports and 107 played individual sports (33.2%) (2 did not specify the type of sport (0.6%)). Participants studying at the Faculty of Sport Sciences at Manisa Celal Bayar University consisted of 102 women (31.7%) and 220 men (68.3%) and agreed to participate voluntarily. Socio-demographic information form, Five Factor Personality Inventory, Aggression Scale, and continuous anger-Anger Style Scale were applied to the participants. Then, anthropometric measurements of the hand were completed by first and second finger measurements on the right hand and then on the left hand. In the study, prenatal estrogen hormone and testosterone hormone dominant groups were formed based on finger lengths. Later, the Five Factor Personality Inventory factors scores, Aggression Scale, and continuous Anger-Anger Style Scale and sub-dimension scores of these groups were obtained. These scores were compared with the t-test analysis separately for the right and left hand. A significant difference was found in the Self-control / Responsibility factor. Then, two-hand prenatal estrogen hormone and testosterone hormone dominant groups and one-hand prenatal estrogen hormone dominant group were formed. Five Factor Personality Inventory factors scores and Continuous Anger-Anger Style Scale and subscale scores of these three groups were compared with one-way analysis of variance. No significant difference was found.
